Jump Smash - Jeff Tho HD Tang Badminton

For those of you already embedded in the badminton community, this blog is probably not for you :) But for those who are new to the sport or would like to get started, read on...

We've talked about how to pick a racquet, strings and string tension but what happens when you've done all that? Well, one thing you can do is look for a place to play!

So if you've decided that you want to be a badminton player whether that be socially, competitively or professionally. Where do you begin?

Sometimes it can be difficult to find a place to have a hit depending on where you are in the world and not all of us have friends who are also interested in the sport. Luckily we live in a very connected world these days and if you’re able to read this post, then you probably have access to Google. The following is going to seem quite trivial but I've certainly met a lot of people who ask, "where do I play badminton?" and it's really quite simple. So let's break it down:

If I had my time again and were looking for a place to play, the first thing I would do is type something along the lines of “Where to play badminton” as well as the the location you are in. For example, I am in Melbourne, Victoria so I could type: “Where to play badminton in Victoria”. Yes, not the best grammar but Google understands either way!

This will lead you to the most popular website:https://www.badmintonvic.com.au/where-to-play

And from there you can do a bit more targeted research into the areas you are looking to play in. With fancy Google Algorithms, you can also type something as simple as “Badminton courts near me” and you’ll get a good idea of where you’re able to play. A lot of the locations you find are stadiums associated with clubs/groups as well as social nights that run throughout the week so you’ll definitely be able to find something that suits your needs.

Alternatively, you can use other platforms (e.g. Facebook, Meetup, etc.) and do simple searches in there to find groups to play with. There are many options, all you have to do is start looking!

Good luck and we hope to see you out there!

We'd love to hear your opinions, comments, tips and tricks so please feel free to comment below. If you would like us to write about something in particular, please let us know!
